So I've been doing a lot of crochet lately (switched from knitting) and I thought I'd start to log my efforts. I'll take some pictures as I go along, and post them here. Unfortunately, I've already given away the first crochet afghan I made. I used Lion Brand Homespun in Tudor (see left) - the image doesn't do it justice at all though, it is a variegated color that changes through blue, purple, pink, blue and sometimes even yellow. I basically made one HUGE granny square (sort of like this). I gave that one to my boss and his wife as a late Christmas gift. I have another one I made for my brother- and sister-in-law, Tim and Traci and my niece and nephew, Alondra and Mateo. I'll post a picture of it sometime soon. It's based on the 5 1/2 hour throw pattern from Lion Brand Yarn. I used Lion Brand Homespun for that one too, you'll see the color as soon as I get a picture posted.
The ones I'm working on now are two. I have one I'm making for a co-worker who LOVES purple, so I'm using another Lion Brand yarn, called Color Waves. I have a purple and a red, so it's purple with red stripes. I'm using a patter I found through Project Linus called the "Sideways Shell Baby Afghan". I haven't yet made a blanket to donate to Project Linus, but because I'm using their pattern, I will soon.
I have another blanket I'm doing with the same pattern, using a standard white acrylic yarn, and a nice soft variegated acrylic Bernat yarn, I think the color is called "Rose Garden" - it changes through various greens and rose colors. I'm using the colored yarn as the base, and the white for thin stripes. Again, pictures will be added later.
Lately I've been addicted to buying yarn on eBay. I got the Lion Brand Colorwaves via an auction a few months ago. The Homespun I used for the Boss' blanket and the one I'm giving to the B- and S-in-law, as well as the knitted afghans I made for Mom, Dad, and my mother- and father-in-law, I got a couple of years ago from an auction, too. Recently I've purchased the Bernat "rose garden" yarn and some beautiful high-end type wool yarn in a couple different colors. Again, more pictures to follow.
So that's it for now, I'll continue updating, hopefully, on a regular basis.
